Do you know the average number of SKUs (products) in a Distributor’s portfolio? According to the National Beer & Wine Wholesaler Association’s own data, it’s well over 900! How can a small, local brewery compete within a portfolio that large? Imagine a Wholesale salesman walking into a local bar with only 8 taps. How does he fairly represent and sell over 900 beers to a handful of taps?
The breweries supporting Craft Freedom want to have a choice of what their go-to-market strategy is. They want to preserve the option to keep sales and distribution in-house so they can grow and be fairly represented in their local market. Right now, the law mandates that a brewery no longer has this option once a brewery reaches an arbitrary level of production. The government should not force breweries into binding (private) business arrangements with Distributors. We hope you agree and will help us spread the word about Craft Freedom movement and change the self-distribution cap in N.C.!
